at halftime for our basketball game, we had honorary guests from the desoto soaring eagle center.
"the desoto soaring eagle center provides programs for young adults with intellectual disabilities living in southern dallas and northern ellis counties."
they had the students divided into two teams to play a game of basketball.
it was probably the best halftime event we've ever hosted.
watching them play and have such a blast is amazing.
one of the players, isaiah had some crazy crossovers and another player whitney, made almost all of her shots.
it has to be such an emotionally difficult job to work for a disabilities program but so rewarding.
maybe i'll be called to work for a great organization one day. :)
lazy blogger
17 February 2012
i feel like a burn out. i've been too lazy to blog.
but now it's winter break so i have a four day weekend.
time to catch up on some things.
filled out my bracket for batbV.
my practicum has been fun especially visiting a nurse practitioner to learn about medicines.
been borrowing a longboard and skating around which has somewhat kept me sane.
i'm staying caught up on school work... for now.
my car is being a jerk right now. but she always is.
hmmm. oh! the february photo a day. i boycotted the "sun" day because it's february and you asked for the sun?! come on!
since then, i've just forgotten about it which sucks because i really enjoyed it.
so, i'm gonna catch up on the photos all this weekend.
better stay tuned for about twelve days of pictures in just two days haha.
that's about all for now.
well, i've been thinking about doing a couple video blogs.
i'll test run one and see how that turns out.

#frontdoor
this is the front door of J.O. Savell Hall.
the first dorm i ever walked into.
the first dorm and last that i have lived in.
i've met some amazing friends in this building.
cody little, jon herrick, josh black, trey and alex moore, jared hudgins, jared thorne, ismael concepcion.
and so many more. like my two dorm pastors, pastor dave and pastor calvin.
i also had the priviledge of being an RA in this dorm. one more semester and i'll be done.
the memories here have been epic!
i love savell and all my friends from the place.
time for war
it's about that time on the berrics. battle at the berrics 5 is starting.
the theme of this batb is war between the founders of the berrics.
berra and eric took turns picking their 16 to battle it out to represent each side.
my pick is steve berra's team. with guys like mike mo, nyjah, chris cole, billy marks shane o'neil, and cory kennedy, any of those guys can take it all.
eric koston has some pretty legit guys too like pj ladd, p-rod, morgan smith, and ishod.
batb5 is gonna be legit! make your brackets and stay tuned!

#button
i could have been cliche and took a picture of a button up shirt, a jeans button, or something like that.
but instead, i chose a button that saves lives. the button in the swan station of the dharma initiative.
4 8 15 16 23 42. then "execute"
i've watched all of the office, all of how i met your mother, all of arrested development, and a lot of other shows including lost.
but i loved lost so i decided to watching over again from the beginning.
today i'm at season two with the start of the discovery of the dharma initiative.

#stranger
just one week ago, ashley was a stranger.
now we're best palzz. waddup?
we went to the anthony green show.
skated, danced and took pictures behind a chinese restaurant with alex, caleb, and anthony.
went to white rhino cafe. it was good. me and caleb got some hot chocolate.
(best hot cocoa ever).
anyways if she's a stranger to you, then you should change that!

show at trees
saw the dear hunter and anthony green last night with ashley and alex last night.
(it was alex's first show ever. what?!)
never heard the dear hunter before, but they were legit.
and anthony green was beyond epic. such a spaz on stage which was awesome.
i was afraid he wouldn't but he played from avalon and did a deftones cover.
the best part? his encore started with "seven years."
the backup band was good old war and they were pretty legit.
all in all it was a good night.

when i get all growed up
ever since i was a freshman in high school, i would tell myself what i was joing to be when i grew up. before i hurt my arm playing baseball, i wanted to be a professional baseball player. i wanted to own a skate shop/skatepark and just have fun forever. then i wanted to be a math teacher. i got to college and decided i wanted to work with children in some fashion. i'm currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in psychology. i wanted to have my own children's psychology practice. now i feel like i want to advance in the area of neurobiology.
my point is that whenever i told myself what i want to do with my future, i've always felt so confident. now, this isn't a pity post but a realization. i'll never know what it is i want to be until i realize what i am. and it's more than just what i am, it's who i am. maybe i'll stick with neurobiology, or i'll go back to wanting to teach, or maybe i'll do something i never imagined. my plan for each day is to ask myself three questions.
1. who am i?
2. am i proud of who i am?
3. if not, how can i make myself proud of who i am?
maybe this post will help you if you're confused. =]

tecktonik
i've been trying to learn how to do this awesome dance called "tecktonik." it's so crazy watching people who are good at it. i guess it's really popular over in france and some other parts of europe. i first saw this my sophomore year of college with my friend will. he picked up on it pretty well but not me. so i decided that i'd learn via youtube and i got some help from some 12 year old asian kid. if you want to see people actually doing the dance, just search "yelle a cause des garçons"on youtube.
back on the board
31 January 2012
this past weekend got me so pumped. i got back in to skateboarding. forgot how much i missed it. thanks to a couple friends, beej and caleb, i'm back on my board. need motivation to skate? just go to theberrics.com. set-up is still 8.0 Plan B, Royal trucks, Reds bearings, and 52mm Spitfire wheels.
